How's it going in your neck of the woods?
I'm just starting to feel normal after having a horrible chest infection. I've never had one before and it really did take hold and made me feel really unwell. I've got two more days of antibiotics - one a day which I've never heard of before!
I'm attempting ballet this morning and after having done nothing since the Monday-before-last I think I'll probably struggle. I'll take my time and rest if I can't carry on, do wish me luck!
So as you can imagine I've not taken many photos over the past week, but had these waiting in the wings from last Friday.
They were taken when I went out with my sister and mum to a local restaurant for our mum's birthday lunch. I wasn't on top form, but felt I couldn't let her down. I ended up having a super meal and a brilliant time and although we didn't stay long, all of us had good fun chatting, laughing and planning future outings.
Items marked with * have been gifted to me, however these are 100% my own honest comments.
You all know I adore wearing dresses, so it was an obvious choice to wear this pretty blue Geo dress* last week. I couldn't resist another in this retro print that looks just as good in the 2022's.
Boasting long sleeves and a midi length this Izabel London dress is the most perfect style for this in between season when the weather hasn't quite made it's mind up. Sometimes it's hot, others its windy and cold and occasionally we can have both on the same day!
Last Friday it must have know it was Mum's birthday as it beamed glorious sunshine all day - to be honest I didn't get a good shot of me inside the restaurant because the sun was shinning right on me!
I love when I put a dress on and it just feels right, this is how it felt. The length is perfect on me and the cross over bust detail sat beautifully in place and didn't move or gape. The only issue I had was the belt. It didn't have a catch or buckle and kept slipping off. I'd have preferred it a bit longer so I could have tucked it in or with a clasp of some description.
I didn't plan these shots very well and you can see there's lots in the background that shouldn't be seen, but hey ho I had other things on my mind, good food and fizz ha ha. 😂
What you can see is the cute detail over my pleated dress, how about these colours together? There's such an assortment of pretty shades and I could have picked a host of shoes and bags to complete the outfit, but I settled on my new - ish black sling backs. Even though they have a high heel they are really very comfortable. I have in mind my sassy blue sandals or my long white boots to change the outfit from lunch ... to dinner .... to a special occasion with the change of a shoe - adaptable is my word of the day. X
Now let's see the birthday girl. Here's my mum - doesn't she look well. I'm a lucky lady to have such a wonderful, clever, caring and helpful mum in my life. She's very independent, always has been it's sometimes hard to pin her down because she's always doing so much for everyone else!

I tend to wear silver jewellery when I wear blue so I put my big silver hoop earrings on. I always love wearing them but am often worried I'll lose them. The silver necklace is so pretty - the kids got the opal for a birthday or maybe mother's day. It's in a tear drop style and is set in a silver mount on a fine silver chain - down side is that the chain gets caught in my hair and pulls it out - that's the trouble with long hair I think! Anyone else have that problem?

ReplyDeleteI've had the worst cold too Jacqui. For three weeks! Worse than the Corona I would say. The worst cough ever. I braved it and went into town yesterday but had to return home. Everyone was staring at me constantly coughing! Haha. Lovely photos of you all xx
ReplyDeleteBelated birthday wishes to your mom. She is lovely! I love your geo-print dress. I hope you feel better soon.

I hope you feel better Jacqui - a chest infection sounds painful! Look at your sweet mom - she looks so happy and I bet it made her day to be out with her girls.
ReplyDeleteLove the retro print on your dress! If you have a clear elastic you can use it to keep the belt on but I bet it would look great with a different belt!

You look lovely!!

Happy Happy Birthday to your sweet mum, Jacqui! You all look so beautiful for your lunch date! I love these mother-daughter photos! I am so sorry you were feeling unwell though. Your dress is gorgeous. The colors and print are so bold and eye-catching. As for the belt, I would probably ditch it in favor of a solid or contrasting belt anyway. And then I would convert the matching belt into some sort of necktie/scarf/neckerchief. I hope you have a successful ballet class, my friend!

What a beautiful dress! it's a shame you found the belt annoying as it does match it so well, this is a lovely outfit for a meal out with family.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link up! Hope you're having a great day and you get over your infection quickly!

My husband has been battling something similar and may need to go to the doctor if he doesn't get better. It's been a stressful couple of weeks with phone calls to be made and not everyone feeling well. But back to fun topics! Happy birthday to your mum and you look wonderful in this pretty printed dress! It's a good one!

You are a knock-out in that dress. Glad the weather was on board for celebrating your mom's birthday :) And I hear you about the necklace chains pulling out your hair...I have no solution but can commiserate!
ReplyDeleteYou always look great in dresses and this one's a beaut. Hope you're feeling better x
ReplyDeleteOh love this look, yes perfect for a lunch! Oh yes belts with dresses can be tricky I wore my Gucci belt with a dress but it was too big and kept sliding around I need to get another hole added.

What a fabulous dress! I hope you're feeling better now. I've had a couple of chest infections and they made me feel utterly dreadful and took a few weeks to get over. Lovely to see you, your mum and sister together!
